Private. Files never leave your device.

Open a different file?

This closes the current PDF. It stays in your recent files with everything you've done, so you can come back to it from the home page.

Clear all files?

This empties the list and the order you put it in. Nothing is removed from your device.

Turn on airplane mode and give it a try. It still works.

How to rotate a PDF online for free

Open your PDF, turn the pages that are the wrong way round, and save a corrected copy. It all happens in your browser, so the file stays with you.

  1. 1Open your PDF. Click Choose file or drag and drop the PDF into the tool. Every page appears as a thumbnail, so you can spot the ones lying on their side.
  2. 2Turn the pages that need it. Click a page (on a phone, tap it) and press its Rotate button, or select it and press R. Each press turns that page a quarter turn clockwise, and its thumbnail turns with it, so you can see it upright before you save. Pages you leave alone stay exactly as they were.
  3. 3Download the corrected PDF. Download the new file. It is built on your device while you work, so it is ready when you are, and the original on your device is not touched.

Free for everyone

Rotate as many pages in as many PDFs as you like, with no watermark or daily cap. Because the turning happens on your device, there's nothing to upload and no usage to ration. The same tool can also remove, reorder and number pages in the same pass, if the document needs more than a quarter turn: see Organize PDF.

It's open source under the MIT license, so anyone can read the code, fork it on GitHub, or share it. Simple PDF tools should be free for everyone.

Got questions?

Frequently asked questions

How do I rotate a page in a PDF?

Open the PDF, click the page and press its Rotate button (or select it and press R). The page turns a quarter turn and the thumbnail shows it straight away. When every page looks right, download the corrected PDF.

Can I rotate just one page, or only some pages?

Yes. Rotation is per page: turn the ones that are the wrong way round and leave the rest. Only the pages you turned change in the saved file.

Which way does a page turn, and how do I go back?

Each press turns the page 90 degrees clockwise. For a counterclockwise turn, press three times. Four presses bring the page back to where it started, and Undo and Redo step back and forward through everything you have done.

Does rotating a PDF lower its quality?

No. Rotating changes the page's rotation setting in the new file. The text, images and drawings on the page are copied as they are, not re-drawn or recompressed, so nothing gets blurrier or bigger.

Will the pages stay rotated when I open the PDF elsewhere?

Yes. The turn is saved inside the PDF as the page's own rotation, the setting PDF viewers and printers read, so the page opens the way you left it. If a page already had a rotation, your turn is added to it.

My scan came out sideways. Can I fix it?

Yes, that is the most common reason to rotate. Open the scanned PDF, turn the sideways pages until they stand upright in the thumbnails, and download the new file. The pages are turned, not retyped or re-scanned, so the scan looks just as it did, only the right way up.

Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?

No. Nothing is uploaded. The tool runs on your device, in your browser, and your file never leaves it. There is no processing server. For offline use, install PDkef and let its required assets load while connected.
